Ryadovka gray - a description of where it grows, the toxicity of the mushroom

Many mushroom pickers are skeptical of small, modest gray rows. But who knows a lot about them, gladly puts them in a basket to prepare then delicious original dishes, especially snacks. Although the gray rowovka is unpretentious, you can prepare delicious dishes from it, and it will not require special efforts during processing.

The rowing is gray

Collecting these mushrooms is a pleasure, since during the season it is quite easy to find them, they almost never grow alone, so filling them with containers is not difficult. The only danger: together with edible very similar, doubles should not get. But it is enough to study the appearance of the gray row, so as not to be mistaken.

Appearance of gray rowing

A real gray rowing has a hat with a diameter of 7 to 15 cm, which is rather brittle. When a hat is torn off or cut off, it makes a crisp, ringing sound. The bell-shaped form at a young age, but becomes fully spread already in adulthood. However, the older the rowing, the hat becomes more decrepit, becomes rotten, begins to bend upward and completely crack.

The structure of the mature fungus is dry and thinly fleshy, the surface is wavy, and cracked. The color is dark gray, there is always a purple or olive shade. The pulp is flat. Flakes are visible over the entire surface - hairy and dark, radial dark stripes. Therefore, the mushroom has another name - streaky. If the weather is damp or it is raining, the hat is always slimy to the touch and becomes sticky. Because often leaves, needles, pieces of soil are glued to the fungus.

The plates in the gray row are quite rare, the width is from 0.5 to 1 cm. Almost white in color, but some acquire a greenish tint. In old mushrooms, it darkens, acquires a soap structure. White powder forms in the plates.

Leg in diameter - from 2 to 2.5 cm, and height - from 4 to 15 cm, mostly straight, extended to the base. A powdery coating sometimes appears in the upper part. Inside the leg is loose and slightly hollow, but smooth. Time will pass, and the leg will become completely hollow. It has a pinkish-cream color, there is also a whitish hue and vertical strokes. With the growth of the fungus, the color becomes noticeably yellow. Its pulp is fibrous, loose, necessarily with hard veins. The foot is deeply rooted. Spores in the gray row without any color, smooth, ovoid-ellipsoidal in shape.

These mushrooms have such a feature: when the leg is cut off, after a while it begins to open up and then begins to disintegrate into separate parts.

Cooking features

The flesh of the gray rows has a very pleasant sweetish taste, and the smell resembles a faint floral or mealy aroma. And those that grow under coniferous trees have a piquant resinous taste. Therefore, mushrooms are used very often: baked and fried, salted and pickled, stewed and boiled, added to first courses and salads. But nevertheless salted rowing is especially appreciated.

Features of cooking gray rowing

When the mushroom is boiled, the flesh becomes gray-white, a faint chestnut flavor may appear.

In cooking, not only young specimens are appreciated, but also overgrown or especially large, since such mushrooms do not lose their piquant taste.

The row can be dried, and then it will be enough to soak for 20 minutes, and use as fresh. This type of mushroom can be stored for a long time if they are kept in a dry place in a glass bowl. The cork should let air through slightly, and every 3-4 months, sprinkle the mushrooms with black pepper so that they are not spoiled by food moth.

Like other edible mushrooms, in the row there are also minerals and many types of vitamins. There are also aromatic substances, due to which the digestion process improves.

Before cooking, it is advisable to remove the peel from the cap, rinse the mushroom thoroughly under running water, removing all impurities.

Soap row is considered inedible. Its difference is that it has a more uniform staining, there is no fibration. But most of all it gives out a smell reminiscent of laundry soap.

Where a good crop grows

You can find the gray row mainly where there are a lot of moss, fallen needles or decayed leaves. These mushrooms grow best on calcareous soils, in pine and spruce forests. It was noticed by mushroom pickers that most of all the row can be gathered in the old pine forest. But in mixed forests, where birch and pine especially prevail, there are many of them. And often you can meet a large family, located along the path.

Where gray row grows

The main regions where growers grow, are considered the European territories of Russia, Siberia, the Caucasus, Crimea, Primorye, North America and Canada.

Fruiting begins almost at the end of the summer period - in August, and ends when snow has already fallen, and severe frosts begin. Row can be collected even when other mushrooms have long been absent. The most active and massive growth has been observed since mid-August, and lasts until the end of October.

Other types of rowing

The rowers, in addition to such a species as gray, have others. For example:

  1. Earthy. It is not so large, the hat has a pronounced fibrous-scaly, gray color. The leg is more slender. It is considered almost edible.
  2. Different. You can recognize the color of the legs, as it is not only white, but also brown or green. The pulp has an unpleasant odor. It is considered semi-edible.
  3. Pointy. The hat is thinner, with striped edges, the color is ash gray. The center is distinguished by a conical shape tubercle. The plate is grayish in color. The flesh tastes bitter and burning. She is weakly poisonous.

Edible gray ryadovka, but it was decided to rank it in category IV according to consumer and nutritional indicators. She has a lot of similarities with the grebe, but the rowing has no skirt ring on the leg, because mushroom pickers, especially inexperienced ones, try not to pick these mushrooms.
