Tomato Filippok - description and characteristics of the variety

A tomato variety called Filippok is relatively new. It belongs to the Siberian breeding, and was developed by specialists in order to grow tomatoes in the open field in more severe regions of the country. Indeed, in them the summer period lasts much less than in the southern regions, and it is often not enough for the successful cultivation of most varieties of this crop.

Tomato Filippok

This type of tomato has other benefits. It can be successfully grown not only on the site, but simply on the balcony as a regular pot culture. After all, the bushes of this variety are very tiny. At the same time, they give a good harvest, and the fruits ripen early enough and almost simultaneously. In addition, Filippok fruits have excellent palatability. The variety is considered salad, and fully justifies its purpose. Let us consider in more detail all the characteristics of this variety, as well as recommendations for planting, growing and caring for them.

Description

During the selection, the qualities influencing obtaining a good harvest were accentuated. Specialists sought to obtain not only an early ripe variety, but also one that would be able to withstand changes in the weather, and in any case would produce good yields.

Consider the main characteristics:

  1. The variety is early ripe. The growing season lasts about 95 days. This feature is the indisputable advantage of the variety, and makes it possible to grow tomatoes in a more severe climate. It is possible to harvest the crop before frost begins to affect the plants. In this way they are protected from late blight and other diseases.
  2. Another advantage is that the bushes belong to the determinant type. They grow only up to 40 cm in height, and independently limit their growth. Due to this, brushes in the required amount are formed quite quickly on the bush. During the growing season, the fruits have time to fully ripen.
  3. The bushes are small, it is convenient to care for them. They do not require permanent removal of stepsons, garter, etc.
  4. Separately, it is worth mentioning the fruits of the Filippok variety. They have a round shape. Their skin is shiny and smooth. Tomatoes have a red tint. The weight of the fruit on average reaches only 45-55 g. But sometimes there are also specimens weighing up to 100 g. Filippok refers to varieties intended for the preparation of salads, so sugar contains about 2.5% of the fruit.
  5. Plants endure temperature reduction for a short time. Growing them on the site, they can be planted in a tight fit. They can serve as border plants, and also sit under tall tomatoes of other varieties. Tomatoes of this variety are grown not only in harsh climates, but also in the central and southern regions. At the same time, their seeds are sown directly into the ground.

The bulk of the crop is given to plants in the first decade of the fruiting period. Compared to other dwarf varieties, its yield is higher.

Cultivation and care

Since the plants are stunted, this greatly simplifies the care of them. The bush does not need to be constantly formed, to cut off stepsons.

Consider the main recommendations for growing:

  1. Before planting on the beds, seeds are sown in about 55-60 days. When it comes time to plant seedlings, the plant should already have at least 6 leaves and at least one brush. Before planting, it is recommended to perform hardening so that the seedlings get used to the coolness and direct exposure to the sun.
  2. Plants are planted on the beds after there is confidence that there are no frosts. In May, seedlings can be planted by temporarily covering with foil. And in June - in the open. 5 plants are planted per square meter. In case of need for a garter in the ground, it is recommended to immediately insert pegs.
  3. The bushes grow quickly and bear fruit well, so they require good nutrition. During the growing season, fertilizer should be applied 4 times. These should be complex preparations.
  4. If there is no rain, watering should be done twice a week. The soil is then loosened, weeds are removed.

According to amateur reviews, tomatoes of this variety grow remarkably as a pot plant. They can be grown in boxes and in large pots. The volume should be from 6 to 8 liters. It is very important that the soil is of good quality. It should be fertile, loose, let moisture and air through.

Filippo tomatoes do not require special care, look great in the garden, do not occupy a large area. A considerable advantage is its good productivity. Fruits can be consumed fresh and canned.
