Tomato Bonanza - description and characteristics of the variety

Tomato Bonanza is an indeterminate crop variety. Bush growth is not limited. The plant forms 10 hands with elongated pepper-shaped fruits weighing 100-130 g. The variety is intended for cultivation in greenhouses. The best way to form a bush is in one trunk. The plant requires garters to support, formation, removal of the lateral processes and pinching of the tops of shoots.

Description

The fruits are elongated, large, fleshy and sweet, up to 20 cm in length. Female and male flowers are formed in the tomato, the plant is pollinated independently. With mass flowering, greenhouses are opened for ventilation. In a closed ground, the favorable temperature regime remains longer, in connection with this, fruiting is extended until frost occurs. The skin of the elongated Bonanza fruit is very strong, does not crack, protects the fruit from decay, provides good transportability and keeping quality.

Seedlings

Seedlings can be purchased in nurseries, or grow yourself. If the second method is preferable, you should pay attention to certain points. Sowing of seeds begins in mid-March, if the windows face north, and at the end of March, if south. After the appearance of the second leaf, seedlings are dived (transplanted into a deeper container), pinching the tip of the root. This enables the root system to form better. After 2 months, seedlings are planted in closed ground.

Ground preparation in the greenhouse

Which soil is best for tomatoes? The answer to this question is simple:

  • The earth should be loose, warm.
  • Composed of minerals, calcium, microorganisms.
  • Pest free.
  • To the extent of absorbing moisture (a stuck lump breaks when pressed).
  • Preferred acidity is up to 7 pH.

Landing Schemes

There are several types of tomato planting schemes; the most relevant are parallel and chess layouts.

  1. The parallel circuit consists of two beds, where the holes are located in parallel, in two rows. The distance between the pits is 30 cm, between the rows is 70 cm. The width of the path between the beds is 100 cm.
  2. A chessboard landing pattern is two beds, where the holes are staggered relative to each other. In this case, between the pits 60 cm, and between the rows 80 cm.

Bush formation

  1. Properly formed bush, the key to a good harvest. Experienced gardeners have many ways to form a bush, but the end result is one. As a result, there should be no more than three stems and eight brushes. Appearing stepchildren must be removed so that the bush receives enough light and air. In addition, various pests and diseases are more actively developing in the thickets.
  2. An indeterminate tomato is formed into one stem. Bushes need pruning, as they resemble small trees with a regular crown. The first inflorescence that appears is the main one, so all further manipulations are carried out relative to it.

The seedlings planted in the greenhouse undergo an adaptation period of about 3 weeks, after which you can begin to remove the stepsons. The next formation is allowed no earlier than after 14 days.

Harvesting

Bonanza Tomatoes
Harvesting is carried out depending on the destination, from green to red fruits. Red, well-ripened fruits are used for salad, ketchup, and other sauces. For salting, brown tomatoes are preferred. With Bonanza, it makes sense to leave the seeds for next year.

  1. A sharp cooling and rainy weather will inevitably lead to a deterioration in the condition of thermophilic tomatoes.Their biological feature is such that when the average daily temperature drops to 15-18 degrees, they suspend growth and development, and diseases begin to develop intensively on them. During such periods, outbreaks of late blight are observed.
  2. The specificity of the causative agent of this disease is such that after spending several hours in droplets of water, spores germinate, and after a few days brown, rotting spots appear on the leaves, stems and fruits. The disease, like a fire, can cover the entire area with tomatoes. Therefore, carefully monitor the weather. If the rains, even small ones, and the cooling continue, collect the formed fruits and lay them for ripening.
  3. If the fruits taken from plants with already obvious signs of late blight, then they are preheated, dropping for 2-3 minutes in hot water with a temperature of 60 degrees. If this is not done, they can turn black and rot after 3-4 days.
  4. Ripening fruits are laid out in a dry place. If the weather develops, which can result in frosts, you need to accelerate the ripening of the fruit. Lightly tear the root or make a longitudinal incision on the stem.

Following the recommendations listed, it will be possible to get an excellent harvest of unusual elongated, very tasty fruits of Bonanza tomato.
