Tomato Mars F1: description

Mars is an early ripe variety. The first tomato crop is removed after 3 - 3.5 months from the moment of germination of the first seedlings. Bushes are small, determinant type (limited in growth). There are few branches on the bushes, the fruits are usually tied after 6 or 7 leaves, the next fruits appear after 1-2 leaves. Mars bushes rarely reach a height above 60 cm. The height rarely exceeds 50-60 cm. The leaves are small, saturated green.

The fruits of the Mars variety have a round, slightly flattened shape, the color of the tomatoes is bright red. One tomato weighs approximately 70-80 grams.

One fruit of the Mars F1 variety contains in its composition:

  • Dry matter - up to 5.5%.
  • Sugar - 3.4%.
  • Ascorbic acid - up to 26 mg.
  • Total acidity is 0.5%.

When growing tomatoes in industrial volumes, the Mars F1 variety gives consistently high yields. So, from a hectare farmers managed to collect more than 400 quintals of high-quality tomatoes, suitable for sale. If you compare the yield of the Mars variety with other hybrid varieties, you get a very good result.

Growing and Care Rules

Any lover of nightshade, who at least once dealt with hybrids, in addition to the numerous advantages of these varieties, noticed flaws. Thus, good seed material cannot be prepared from the fruits of a hybrid plant. Of course, the seeds can be collected, planted, and even get some kind of crop. But the initial characteristics of the plant when planting seeds from the fruits obtained last season are lost - the variety degenerates. This lack of hybrids is confirmed by numerous reviews of amateur experimenters. Variety Mars F1 is no exception, gardeners have to buy new seeds every year.

However, despite such a minus, all hybrids are very unpretentious and give good harvests, without requiring special care. In addition, hybrid varieties, as a rule, bypass pests and diseases, plants well resist the whims of the weather and do not need a lot of moisture and top dressing. But even the most picky ones need care and protection.

The tomato of Mars variety reveals its best qualities on fertile light soil. The variety reacts very positively to the application of nutrients and organic fertilizers. Like all nightshade, Mars F1 loves loose soil, cleared of weeds. Bushes need to be watered about once a week, in arid hot weather - 5-6 times a week. The main thing is not to overdo it with water. Despite the fact that tomatoes of this variety are dense and not prone to cracking, excess moisture can lead to decay of the root system and death of the plant.

Growing tomato Mars F1

It is best to water the bushes when the topsoil is completely dry. So that moisture does not evaporate from the surface too quickly, and the soil around the bush does not dry out, it must be mulched. Organic mulch not only retains water, but also serves as a good fertilizer for shrubs.

Tomato perfectly showed all its advantages, not only when growing in large volumes, but also in the beds at summer residents and in household plots. Ripe fruits can be eaten raw directly from the garden, they are suitable for all types of preservation and pickles, cooking ketchups and tomato paste.

Tomatoes can withstand long transport very well, without losing their presentation, for which they are loved by traders.

Reviews about the tomato variety Mars

  1. Lyudmila Zadorozhnaya, 45 years old: At one time, when I was growing tomatoes, I fell in love with Mars. The area is damp, frequent fogs and dampness (Belarus), but the bushes tolerated such conditions well. The variety invariably yielded a good harvest; from one bush, it collected up to 30 tomatoes per season, sometimes more. Tomatoes are small, just for spins. Ripen quickly, I started to harvest after about three months. For our area, they grow well under the film. In a brush from 5 to 7 tomatoes.
  2. Elena Rozhuk, 34 years old: This is one of the favorite hybrids. A good harvest, tasty tomatoes, size - just crawl into a jar. I grow on a bed, clay soil.
  3. Sergey G., 30 years old: In general, I am satisfied with the grade. Grew two seasons in a row at the cottage. From the bush, not so much was obtained - about a dozen fruits. But I practically did not care for tomatoes, it was not possible to often go out of town. From time to time weed weeds and loosened the ground near the bushes. I didn’t process anything from pests, I didn’t make top dressing. Even with such, to put it mildly, poor care, the variety gave a stable harvest. I think that with more careful care and feeding, you can harvest a better crop.
