It belongs to the salad type of tomatoes, it is a juicy, dense, fleshy fruit, with a small number of seeds, oblong with a slight ribbing. The weight of one tomato is about 100 grams, but experienced gardeners claim that there can be fruits and up to 200 grams in weight. The skin of the fetus is quite dense. The color is red, from brightly saturated to paler. It is important that in which region this variety of tomatoes would not be grown, and in what conditions, in greenhouses or on the open ground, the taste does not change, it remains soft, sour-sweet, juicy, not watery.

The height of the bush is from 60 centimeters to one meter, the stalk is double, quite thick, but still requires tying and support, since the yield is high, the fruits are formed and ripen with brushes, the branches can break under the weight of the fruits. Leaves on the bush rarely grow, which allows the fruits to ripen evenly. From one square meter of land, you can collect 6-7 kilograms of the crop.

Since the variety is medium late, the tomato is cold-resistant, tolerates temperature extremes and gives a good harvest even in adverse conditions. Also a positive feature of the variety is resistance to disease, including late blight. But for all varieties of tomatoes, it is necessary to carry out disease prevention, spraying. In hot and dry summers, mandatory watering is required to ensure the juiciness of the fruit.

Another plus of this variety of tomato is considered unpretentiousness and ease of cultivation. It is well suited for novice gardeners, since at least some kind of crop will still work.

  3. After the seedlings let out 2-4 leaves, and the stalk becomes resistant and dense, it is stopped in separate containers for growing.
  4. Seedlings are planted in open ground or a greenhouse, depending on climatic and weather conditions, around mid-May.
  5. To form the correct shape of the bush and increase productivity, it is necessary to trim - the so-called stepchildren, three brushes and more.
  6. Next, do not forget about the traditional weeding from weeds, hilling the soil, watering.
  7. It is also worth worrying about pests, aphids, bears, spider mites. If infection is suspected, treat with chemicals or soapy water.
  8. To increase productivity and to strengthen the bush, it is necessary to give the plant fertilizing, mineral or organic fertilizers.

The main disadvantages of this variety is the long cultivation and maturation. Cowhide ears belong to the late varieties of tomatoes, ripen in 110-115 days after planting. Fruits, even fully ripened, have a white vein in the middle section. Also, the fruit is not particularly filled with seeds, and when cut, it looks empty.

Application

Cowhide Tomato ears are universal with respect to application, it is very tasty in and of itself, in a salad, and also perfectly suitable for preservation. It can be used for pickling, pickling, making pasta, sauces, dressings, juice, ketchup. Even after processing with high temperatures, these tomatoes and dishes with their use do not lose their saturated color.
