How to wash pillows from holofiber

Hollofiber is a filler material used to fill outerwear (down jackets, jackets) and bedding (pillows and blankets). Thanks to him, the product looks soft, airy, and besides this, holofiber has such properties as heat storage, resistance to the accumulation of odors and sweat, which facilitates its cleaning; it does not start various small insect pests (ticks, for example), and also does not cause an allergic reaction, which makes it possible to use it in children's things and children's bedding without fear for the health of the kids. But with all the positive qualities, care for such products requires special. Manufacturers claim that it is possible to wash pillows from holofiber as much and as you like, but this is not so.

Washing pillows from holofiber - myths and reality

Hollofiber consists of small spiral fibers made of polyester. In the pillows they are combined into balls, soft and fluffy. Manufacturers assure us that after compression, these balls quickly return to their original shape, so that the product always looks voluminous, lush, soft to the touch. This is not entirely true: if you just wrinkle it in your hands, it will restore to its original shape, but after several washes in the machine with active twisting, the springs are knocked down in tight lumps, after which not only the appearance of the pillow deteriorates, but it is simply impossible to use by appointment: it becomes flabby, sagging, and crumpled filler is felt to the touch. This is the first myth about holofiber pillows.

The second myth is 5-6 washes per year. It is absolutely not necessary to wash the pillows every 2-3 months, because according to information about the material, the dirt does not accumulate in them as much as in ordinary down and feather pillows, and insects do not start. Therefore, it is enough to wash 1-2 times a year.

The secrets of washing pillows from holofiber

As you already understood, this product is not recommended to be washed in an automatic machine. You can use a semi-automatic, but the best option is to wash the pillow with your hands.

Machine wash. Recommended washing temperature 30 degrees, delicate mode. Means for washing to use baby, or just with a mild action. It is better not to use the spin mode at all, after washing, you can leave the remaining water to drain from the product.

Hand wash. A more preferred method of washing that does not require special efforts:

• in the basin draw warm water, add a little baby powder or shampoo for washing;
• immerse the pillow without a pillowcase in water, soak it well, remember and leave it to soak for 20-30 minutes;
• remember a little pillow, rinse in warm water.

Wash the pillowcases. If there is a white pillow-case on the pillow, then it becomes more contaminated and, when hand-washing the pillow, as a whole, does not wash out. Therefore, after you have washed the pillow completely and dried it, it is recommended to spread the pillowcase on one side, stretch the entire filler into a dry container and wipe the pillowcase separately in any way, using stain removers and bleaches if necessary.

Drying. If you wash in the warm season, then for drying you can simply lay out the pillows on the balcony on the grill under the sun's rays. From time to time during the drying process, turn over and slightly whip the pillow with your hands. So the filler will not stray into one part of the pillow into a single large lump and dry out.

In cold weather, the pillow can be placed next to the battery, laid out on a grill and from time to time turn over and shake it.

If the holofiber in the pillow has already rolled

If the filler has already deteriorated, but you don’t feel like throwing away the pillow - do not despair, it can be restored. But for this you need to make an effort and spend some amount of time.

To restore you will need a massage comb and a brush for animal hair. Next, the holofiber is distributed over the massage brush and combed with a wool brush until the last lump that has fallen off is fluffy. All material must be processed in this way, and as a result, the filler will again become fluffy and voluminous.

If there is absolutely no time or desire for such an occupation, you can replace it with a new one. In fact, for all the high cost of the pillows, its filler is not so expensive. Look for it in stores selling bedding with this filler.

If the pillows from the holofiber are gently washed and looked after, they will last you at least 5 years, but on the contrary, they will lose their appearance in a year or two.

Agree, it is better to use correctly, and not to buy constantly new. After all, the manufacturer, when he gives the consumer false information, thinks only about how to sell more goods and get more profit at low cost for the execution of the product than about our peace of mind and saving our financial resources.
