This will lead to distorted research results, as its composition will be changed by the presence of impurities: tissue fibers, dirt, etc. For the same reason, it is not recommended to take urine transfused from the pot for analysis, no matter how clean it is.
If your baby does not pee in any way, then you can help her a little by turning on the tap. The sound of pouring water can stimulate the urination process. A good effect will be obtained by lightly moistening the diaper on which the baby is lying, as well as massage the tummy.
Given that newborns often go to the toilet during feeding, you can give the baby a chest or a bottle to speed up the process.

There are many ways to collect material for analysis: both more modern and rather old. For this procedure, you can use a special sterile urinal, an ordinary plastic bag (of course, clean) or dishes: a plate for girls and a jar for boys. The latter method is not particularly convenient, but it was it that was most often used in the past.

Such a device for collecting urine is very convenient to use. It is a bag equipped with a special sticky layer that is attached between the legs of the baby. Velcro is absolutely safe for delicate baby skin, it reliably fixes the urinal on the child’s body, but it peels off completely painlessly. The urinal is designed so that after the baby pees, the urine is collected in a sachet. Once this happened, you need to remove it and pour the liquid into the container.
Such a device is very inexpensive, is sold in any pharmacy and greatly facilitates the task of collecting biomaterials for analysis.
There are urinals designed specifically for boys and for girls.They take into account the anatomical differences of children and are equipped with slots of various shapes.
How to use the urinal properly?
- Wash the crumbs and pat dry with a towel.
- Putting the child on the back, attach the urinal to the body so that its edges completely cover the labia. At the same time, try to distract the baby, with a smile, singing songs to her or telling rhymes, so that the child relaxes and does not interfere with proper attachment.
- After the urinal is attached, do not wear a diaper or panties on the baby. Clothing deforms it and as a result, urine spills.
- Try to give your child an upright position. The baby can be held in her arms until she pees, or put on her legs and attract her attention with interesting toys (of course, this applies to those children who already know how to stand).
- After the bag is full, carefully remove it and pour the contents into the container. The urinal itself should be thrown out after use. because This is a one-time item.
If your baby does not tolerate foreign objects on the body, then you can try to attach the urinal after the baby falls asleep. However, you will have to sit next to her so as not to miss the urination process, as the bag can detach from the body under its own weight or due to the movements of the child in a dream.
The advantages of the urinal include its low price, sterility, safety and ease of use. The relative disadvantage is that for its successful application some skill is needed.
How to collect urine using a plastic bag
An ordinary plastic bag can also be adapted for collecting tests by cutting its handles and tying them on the hips of a child. So we get a kind of bag for collecting urine, located between the legs of the crumbs. The principle of operation in this case is the same as when using the urinal.
Of course, the package should be clean, and, preferably, also new. Otherwise, you risk collecting urine with various impurities, which may affect the results of the analysis.
An older child can be held in his hands, waiting for him to come down in a small package. Very tiny babies are easier to put in the crib, neatly laying out the package under the ass.
After the urine is in the right place, carefully pour it into a container or a sterile jar with a lid.
The advantage of this method of collecting urine is that you can find a suitable package in any home, so there will be no problems with collecting tests even in an emergency. But this method is quite inconvenient for the baby, and also does not provide complete sterility.
Collection of urine using a plate
This method is inconvenient in that the collected urine is easy to shed, because the plate is needed exactly shallow, otherwise the child will be uncomfortable to lie. Sterilization of dishes before use is also required.
It is not easy to collect urine from a newborn baby; this task requires patience and attention. However, choosing the method that is right for you, you can simplify the procedure as much as possible. Most importantly, do not forget that the whole process requires a certain sterility: use only new and clean urine collection devices and do not store it for more than two hours.
