How to remove scratches from the phone screen: 8 ways

The graphic information is recreated on the screen, the user touches a certain picture. A controller that transfers data from the sensor to the interface. The driver, in turn, converts the controller data, allowing a person to perform the same manipulations as with a regular computer without using a keyboard. The touch screen allows you to draw and build graphs and diagrams, take photos and videos. From frequent use, over time, scratches and scuffs noticeable to the eye appear on it.

What a touchscreen consists of

By the principle of operation, touch screens are resistor and capacitive. The first type of screens reacts when you press with a finger or a special pencil with a stylus, while capacitive ones respond to touch. The screen has a certain charge, which when touched moves to this place. Sensors pick up a place of pressing and transfer information further for recognition.

Most phones have capacitive electrostatic touch screens. They represent a glass surface on which the horizontal lines of determination and the vertical lines of the conductor are applied. Between them is a dielectric layer. The surface is protected by a shockproof membrane. The disadvantage of such screens is the inability to work with the stylus, as well as the reaction exclusively to the “live” finger, which is especially inconvenient in the winter when you have to take off your gloves when talking on the phone.

How to remove scratches from the screen using improvised tools

If you do not have the opportunity to purchase professional tools for cleaning touch screens, use what is at your fingertips.

How to remove scratches from the screen using improvised tools

  1. Paste GOI. It got its name in honor of the State Optical Institute, where it was created. It is chromium oxide, has a green color, however, due to carcinogenic properties, the release of paste has been discontinued. Instead, an analogue based on red or white alumina appeared. The purpose of the paste is to polish the surface and give smoothness and eliminate small scratches. In Soviet times, it was used for rubbing optics, various devices and assemblies. They also clean jewelry, office equipment, and more recently, touch screens. To do this, put a little GOI paste on the cotton pad, drip a few drops of machine oil on the screen and rub. When everything is absorbed and the surface becomes smooth and smooth without signs of cracks and scratches, wipe it with a clean microfiber cloth.
  2. Toothpaste. More precisely, gel for brushing your teeth. Gel and paste are not the same thing. Transparent gel does not have strong abrasive substances, so it is used to remove plaque from sensitive tooth enamel. The same goes for polishing the touch screen. But there is one BUT: if the phone has severe damage, the screen looks like a web from the number of cracks and scratches, then the use of tooth gel will only worsen the situation. The phone may stop working altogether. If you decide to use the gel, then apply a drop to a cotton pad and gently rub it on the screen. Rub for a long time until the surface becomes smooth. Then wipe the screen with a microfiber cloth.
  3. Auto polish. It is designed to eliminate scratches on the paintwork of the car, however, it also copes with the surface of the touch screen. Use polish like other similar means: apply on a cotton pad or soft cloth, rub it until the surface of the screen becomes even and smooth, and wipe it with a dry microfiber cloth.
  4. Baby powder. Ordinary talcum powder acts like a polish without damaging the surface of the screen. Mix a spoonful of baby powder with a few drops of water, apply to the screen, rub and rub until completely absorbed. Talcum microparticles will fill the voids formed by scratches and cracks. Then walk along the surface with a dry cloth.

Using improvised tools for polishing the touch screen, remember that the main motto is do no harm. If there are several small scratches on the screen, and abrasive substances can damage the quality of the image (blurred, blurry outline), give up initiative and get professional tools.
