How to get your eyelash out of your eye: 8 ways

There are frequent cases when a foreign body of a small form enters the eye. Dust, shavings, cilia and other foreign objects affect the mucous membrane, as a result of which a person experiences discomfort. In most cases, such events are accompanied by pain, nerve endings are irritated and depleted. Since the epithelium has its own protective functions, a cilium that has fallen will not be able to seriously injure the eyeball. However, the discomfort must be eliminated, we consider effective methods in order.

How to get an eyelash out of your eye

When a foreign object enters the mucous membrane, the eye tries to protect the epithelium and begins to watery. This occurs at a reflex level, just like blinking, squinting and other reflexes. However, such actions may not always completely eliminate the threat. Some cases require outside intervention.

Method number 1. Touch Removal

Of course, the eyelash can get into the eye at any time of the day. Handy supplies, such as sanitary napkins or a mirror, are not always at hand. To carry out the procedure correctly, wash your hands and dry them.

Try to determine “by touch” in which area the eyelash is located. Build on your own feelings. Then try to move the subject with clean fingers along the lower / upper eyelid from the outer corner of the eye to the inner.

Repeat manipulations 3-4 times until you achieve the desired result. You will feel relief when the cilia rolls to the inner corner of the eye. You just have to gently grab it with your fingertip without lubricating your makeup.

Method number 2. Napkins and mirror

If the previous option was unsuccessful, try removing the eyelash with a paper towel / handkerchief and a mirror. Swipe your lower / upper eyelid so that the cilia is slightly displaced. When a foreign object is clearly visible, pull the skin up and down, respectively.

Fold a handkerchief or paper towel in an envelope so that an acute angle forms. Point the corner of the product on the eyelash and try to hook it. A foreign object should stick. As soon as this happens, slowly remove your hand.

Method number 3. Contact lens cleaning

There are frequent cases when the eyelash sticks to contact lenses, distorting vision. This extraction method is complex in its own way, since it is quite difficult to pull out the contact lens so that the eyelash remains on it.

After removal, lower the lens into a special solution or send it to the bin (for disposable items). In cases where the lens is clean without foreign objects on the surface, carefully inspect the eyeball.

Method number 4. Tongue Extraction

Perhaps the strangest, but effective way to extract eyelashes from the eye. The option is suitable for people relaxing in nature. As a rule, in such situations there is no way to thoroughly sanitize your hands or use a mirror.

To solve the problem, contact a friend or girlfriend, ask him to "lick" your eye. Removal is done as follows: the eyelids move apart up and down, respectively, the eyelash should be in sight. As soon as this happens, the partner needs to grab it with the tip of the tongue so that the subject sticks.

Method number 5. Century massage

Sometimes eyelashes do not fall under the upper or lower eyelid, but remain in the center of the mucosa (on the pupil or squirrel). Do not rush to immediately remove the item with your fingers so as not to push the eyelash further.

Century massage

Do it trickier: close your eyes, with gentle horizontal movements, massage the moving eyelid from the outer corner of the eye to the bridge of the nose. In no case do not perform manipulations in circular movements, otherwise it will be difficult to keep track of the eyelash.

After the object is at the inner corner, remove it with the edge of a scarf or napkin. For convenience, you can use cotton buds (the main thing is that the villus does not fall on the mucous membrane).

Method number 6. Cotton swabs

Having improvised means, you can easily remove the eyelash from the eye. Not always a foreign object gets on the mucous membrane, in most cases the hair remains under the lower eyelid. First you need to choose a place with natural light, you will also need a mirror and children's cosmetic sticks.

If the eyelash remains on the mucous membrane, remove it with a fingertip, after washing your hands. In cases where the item managed to slip below, carefully wrap the eyelid and bring a dry cotton swab to a damp eyelash. It will stick easily, you just have to remove the item.

Method number 7. Massage and rinse

When the eyelash falls under the upper eyelid, removing it becomes much more difficult. First of all, it is necessary to change the place in which a foreign object is fixed. Try to blink, the cilia should fall a little lower.

If blinking does not help, close your eyes and start the massage. Swipe the upper eyelid in the direction from the outer corner of the eye to the inner. Repeat 5 times, evaluate the result. If the eyelash has not changed location, you only have one thing left - washing.

To execute it correctly, follow the basic instructions. To get started, take a clean glass, pour boiling water over it and turn it upside down. When the container is completely dry, pour boiled water at room temperature or saline (sold in a pharmacy) into the cavity. Soaking and rinsing liquid is considered the best option, but water is also suitable.

Now attach a shot glass to your eye so that you can blink in the liquid. If desired, the container can be applied to the face horizontally, if individual features of the face allow. This method removes eyelash and other debris not only from the upper, but also the lower eyelid.

Method number 8. Eye drops

When the eyelash gets on the mucous membrane, the eyes automatically begin to watery. Over time, tears become smaller, dryness appears, and a foreign object is still not removed. If you have tried all of the above tools, and they have been ineffective, go to radical measures.

Eye drops

Get drops against eye fatigue at the pharmacy. Bury them according to the instructions, then wait a while. Open your eyes, the cilium will change its place of dislocation by then. It will remain either under the lower eyelid, or move to the mucosa.

Pull out a foreign object with cosmetic sticks, paper towels, or a fingertip. Try not to strain your eyes for a while after the procedure.

Practical recommendations

  1. Do not try to pull the eyelash out with the back of the sewing needle. In most cases, such manipulations result in retinal injury and subsequent surgery.
  2. If you tried all of the above methods, and each of them was unsuccessful, do not try to do anything else. Lie down to rest with your eyes closed, as practice shows, after sleep, the eyelash moves to an accessible place for withdrawal.
  3. Not everyone can pull out the eyelash on their own. If you fail, contact the clinic or emergency room. Specialists will rinse, observing hygiene standards and rules.
  4. If after the procedure the eye turns red and inflamed, most likely the mucous membrane is dehydrated. Get an artificial tear in the pharmacy, the drug moisturizes the eyeball and relieves discomfort.
  5. Do not ask another person to get an eyelash from your eye. As a result of such manipulations, you will begin to blink often, fearing that a friend or girlfriend will hurt. This is a defensive reaction, which is very difficult to get away from.
  6. In rare cases, the eyelash is removed quite simply. Wash with cold water while being with your eyes open. If possible, use filtered fluid; it does not cause discomfort.

It is easy to pull the eyelash out of the eye if you follow the sequence of actions and precautions. Try to remove the item by touch. Consider using sticks, sterile wipes, or a handkerchief. Get an artificial tear, clean the lenses with a special solution, drip your eyes.
